This elegant 'plat à beurre' or butter dish could be best described as "simple beauty"

A 'plat à beurre' in sycamore was a prize winner at the 2007 Tasmanian Design Award sponsored by the Design Centre and Clemenger Tasmania.
Judges considered criteria such as portability, cost, originality and use of material which might normally be called waste. (Sycamore is considered a weed in much of Tasmania.)
