Each of these Ned's plats, cutting, serving, cheese boards, has been made from a single piece of specially selected quarter-sawn timber which helps reduce any tendency to cup. They may also be washed (although never soak ) without fear of de-lamination. To butter the toast on, slice the onion, crush the garlic, place the cheese or whack the blowfly with. -
Sassafras, Blackheart
Sassafras, Blackheart: atherosperma moschatum. 'Default' wood varies from white to a smokey grey. Its low tannin content made it ideal for clothes pegs but, like myrtle, it can have a distinctive stain which is known as "Blackheart Sassafras" and is highly prized.
