The bottle recess and the concentric grooves on the underside are in fact achieved by turning on the lathe. The grooves allowing heat to dissipate and so protecting your precious table or bench top.
The 'downunder' is labelled and the reverse side of the label has that wonderful saying by Galileo Galilei: "Wine is sunlight, held together by water" Galileo Galilei, 1564-1642.
